Official-style horror poster for Siharan (2025), showing a burning ritual circle, eerie village atmosphere, and the sinister shadow of the Sarpanch rising through supernatural smoke.
Siharan (2025)

Siharan (2025) is a Hindi horror-comedy social drama written and directed by Manish Kumar Verma. The film explores an ancient village ritual used to discriminate and oppress women, and the courageous story of Mohini — a woman who stands up to the corrupt Sarpanch and the oppressive tradition that has haunted her village for generations.
Full Story Summary
Siharan is set in a remote rural community where a longstanding tradition has divided women into stigmatized categories — a practice that the village elite have exploited to control and silence the vulnerable. The Sarpanch, wielding cultural authority, uses the ritual to manipulate villagers, extract favors and punish dissent. Women who fall outside his favor are stigmatized or forced into humiliating rites under the pretext of custom.
Enter Mohini (Aradhana Sachan), a woman who will not accept living in fear. Unlike others who have become resigned to the status quo, Mohini questions the ritual and begins to gather evidence of the Sarpanch’s abuses. Her defiance awakens old superstitions — eerie omens, unexplained phenomena and rumors that the ritual itself carries a dark, supernatural burden. As Mohini pushes forward, the village experiences increasingly disturbing events: whispered warnings at night, shadows that move independently, and a ritual circle that appears to burn with a life of its own.
The film blends psychological and supernatural horror with social commentary. Mohini’s fight becomes symbolic — a personal revolt and a public reckoning. The narrative builds to a tense confrontation in which truth, courage and the ghosts of the past collide. Siharan ultimately asks whether tradition is sacred or dangerous when used to oppress, and whether one person’s courage can undo generations of fear.
This layered approach — a mix of suspense, folklore, and dark comedy — gives Siharan a distinctive tone among 2025 releases: it is terrifying, emotionally charged, and politically resonant.
