Tata Motors showcases its 17 next-generation trucks featuring the Azura range and advanced electric truck architecture.
Tata Motors Launches 17 Next-Generation Trucks Including ‘Azura’ Range and New Electric Truck Architecture
New Delhi: Tata Motors has officially launched a new portfolio of 17 next-generation trucks, marking a major step forward in India’s commercial vehicle sector. The newly introduced range includes the Azura series for intermediate and light commercial vehicles and an advanced electric truck architecture under the Tata Trucks.ev brand.
The new truck lineup is designed to meet the growing demands of modern logistics, infrastructure development and sustainable transportation. These vehicles cover a wide payload range from 7 tonnes to 55 tonnes, making them suitable for urban transport, long-haul logistics, construction and mining operations.
Introduction of Azura Range
One of the key highlights of this launch is the introduction of the Azura truck range, developed specifically for the Intermediate and Light Commercial Vehicle (ILMCV) segment. The Azura series includes trucks in the 7 to 19 tonne category, aimed at regional transport, city distribution and medium-haul operations.
The Azura trucks are powered by a new 3.6-litre diesel engine that focuses on better fuel efficiency, improved reliability and lower total cost of ownership. Tata Motors stated that the Azura range has been designed after extensive research into driver comfort and fleet productivity. These trucks come with improved cabin ergonomics, higher load capacity and better driving visibility.
Electric Trucks on I-MOEV Architecture
Alongside the diesel-powered models, Tata Motors also unveiled its next-generation electric truck portfolio based on the I-MOEV (Intelligent Modular Electric Vehicle) architecture. These electric trucks are launched under the Tata Trucks.ev brand and will be available across multiple segments from 7 tonnes to 55 tonnes.
The electric lineup includes models such as the Ultra EV for urban transport and heavy-duty electric versions of the Prima series for industrial and mining applications. The I-MOEV platform supports fast charging, modular battery packs and connected vehicle technology, making it suitable for large fleet operations.
Tata Motors said these electric trucks will help reduce carbon emissions and support India’s transition towards cleaner and greener transportation.
Advanced Safety and Technology Features
All 17 newly launched trucks comply with global safety standards (ECE R29-03 crash norms). Tata Motors has equipped these vehicles with up to 23 advanced safety features, including:
- Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)
- Lane departure warning
- Collision mitigation system
- Adaptive cruise control
- Electronic stability control
- Driver monitoring systems
The trucks are also connected to Tata Motors’ Fleet Edge digital platform, which offers real-time tracking, predictive maintenance alerts, fuel efficiency monitoring and route optimization.
Focus on Profitability and Efficiency
According to Tata Motors, the next-generation truck range is designed to improve fleet profitability by increasing payload capacity and reducing operating costs. Improved engine performance and aerodynamic design help deliver better fuel economy, while digital tools assist fleet owners in maximizing vehicle uptime.
These trucks are also engineered for better durability in Indian road conditions and extreme weather, ensuring long-term performance and lower maintenance expenses.
Company Statement
Girish Wagh, Executive Director of Tata Motors, said the launch represents a significant milestone for the company and the Indian trucking industry. He emphasized that the new trucks combine safety, sustainability and productivity, aligning with the country’s infrastructure growth and environmental goals.
He added that Tata Motors is committed to offering future-ready solutions for logistics and transport operators through innovation and technology.
Industry Impact
The launch of these 17 next-generation trucks is expected to strengthen Tata Motors’ position as a leader in the commercial vehicle segment. With the addition of the Azura range and electric trucks, the company aims to cater to evolving customer needs while supporting India’s vision for smart and sustainable mobility.
Experts believe this move will encourage wider adoption of electric trucks and set new benchmarks for safety and efficiency in the trucking industry.
