Australia’s T20 World Cup squad is revealed! See who made the cut for the 2024 tournament, with Mitch Marsh leading a team blending experience with rising stars. Is this the squad to claim the World Cup title?

Australia has named its 15-man squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, with Mitch Marsh taking the captaincy reins. The all-rounder’s leadership comes alongside some surprising selections, including the return of Ashton Agar and Cameron Green after lengthy absences from the T20 international scene.

The squad announcement sees some big names miss out. Notably, Steve Smith was not included for the first time in a World Cup squad since 2014. In contrast, Josh Inglis and breakout star Tim David from the recent South African T20 league (SA20) earned call-ups.

Selectors have opted for a blend of experience and firepower. David Warner’s return alongside Matthew Wade provides stability at the top of the order, while the likes of Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis offer explosive middle-order options. Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc spearhead a potent bowling attack, complemented by the versatility of Josh Hazlewood and the emergence of Nathan Ellis.

The focus on spinbowling is particularly interesting. Adam Zampa remains the primary spinner, but Ashton Agar’s return offers another left-arm option and valuable all-round ability. Cameron Green, with his bowling potential alongside his batting prowess, adds another exciting dimension to the attack.

This Australian squad is looking to make a strong statement at the T20 World Cup, which takes place in the USA and West Indies from June 1 to 29. While some big names are missing, the team boasts a healthy mix of experience and exciting young talent. Can Mitch Marsh lead them to World Cup glory? Only time will tell.
